Women all over WA can now book mammograms online
BreastScreen WA has expanded their online booking system to include all of Western Australia.
The original online booking appointment system was launched in February 2014 and was the first time that a WA Health clinical service developed an online booking system.
Since January 2015 the use of online bookings has nearly doubled, from 1062 appointments booked online in the month of January 2015 to 2000 appointments in October 2016.
Online bookings are expected to increase further with clients not only able to book an appointment at any of BreastScreen WA’s 11 fixed site clinics but also at any of the mobile units which visit numerous remote and regional areas throughout the state.
Towns scheduled for a visit from the mobile clinic will appear on the online bookings map once they are open for bookings. If the town does not appear on the map it is not open for bookings yet. Clients can see when a mobile unit will be in their town using the “Find your town” feature.
Book online or phone 13 20 50.
BreastScreen WA provides free screening mammograms to women 40 years or over and specifically targets women aged 50 to 74 years as current medical evidence shows that screening is most effective for this age group. More than 75 percent of breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50.
The BreastScreen WA program provides a service for women with no breast symptoms. Women of all ages with a persistent change in a breast, should see their GP as soon as possible for a clinical examination.
