  • A group of people in pink shirts stand together with signs reading 3 Million
Three million screens milestone 18 July 2025 BreastScreen WA has reached an incredible milestone of delivering three million free screening mammograms since opening in 1989! This monumental achievement would not be possible without the efforts of every staff member at BreastScreen WA, who are dedicated to saving lives through early detection. In the past few years, BreastScreen WA has averaged around 135,000 screenings per year across 12 fixed clinics and over 100 WA towns, with July 2024 being the highest screening month ever recorded with 13,487 screens. In the last financial year, first-time screeners increased by 10%. The team reached one million screens after 19 years in 2008, then nine years later in 2017 reached two million screens. It has taken only eight years to reach the third million in 2025. Well done team!

Team BreastScreen WA at Mother's Day Classic 12 May 2025 BreastScreen WA staff had a wonderful time supporting breast and ovarian cancer research at the Mother's Day Classic yesterday! Staff either ran 10km or 5km, or walked 5km across the beautiful course, starting from Victoria Gardens, crossing Matagarup Bridge, along the Burswood foreshore and then Claisebrook Cove, all with stunning views of the Swan River. The team of 22 included BreastScreen WA's own Director Dr Emmeline Lee, radiologists, radiographers, and administrative, IT and Health Promotion staff and their families. Thank you also to Dr Julia Feutrill who took part sporting BreastScreen WA’s pink t-shirt. The team enjoyed a well-deserved brunch together after all their efforts. The team has raised over $2600 towards this important cause. Well done all!

  • Breast Cancer Awareness display at Canning Medical Centre Fremantle
Health Promotion in the Practice Winner 06 December 2024 Medical practices promote breast screening for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October For 23 years, BreastScreen WA has held a Health Promotion in the Practice competition, encouraging medical practices to promote the importance of breast screening and breast awareness with their patients and local community. This is achieved through creative initiatives within the practice, including decorating in an array of pink. It is an opportunity for GPs and staff to “be in the pink” for breast cancer, which affects 1 in 7 women in Australia and causes 3000 deaths annually. Judges were looking for innovation and creativity, good use of BSWA resources, a strong message about screening, and levels of effort. Congratulations to Canning Medical Centre Fremantle, who not only created informative and eye-catching visual displays within their clinic but also engaged patients with an interac...
