    Annual Report released 26 April 2023 BreastScreen WA just released the 2022 Annual Report to align with the Accreditation the organisation recently underwent. The purpose of the Accreditation Week was to provide evidence of how the service performs against national standards.     BreastScreen WA Christmas clinic closures 20 December 2022 BreastScreen WA staff will be taking a well-deserved break over the Christmas and New Year period. The clinics, including the four mobile screening units, will be closed from Friday 23 December 2022, and will re-open on Tuesday 3 January 2023. The central bookings line (13 20 50) will still be open during this period, however, with limited hours. These hours will be from 9:00-16:00, Monday - Friday, excluding the Public Holidays. The online bookings systemwill still be accessible for all days and hours during this period. Enjoy the festive season and we will see you in the New Year!

    Birak- Season of the Young begins (December-January) 02 December 2022 It's officially Summer! Today we commence Birak - First Summer (season of the young). Birak season sees the rains ease up and the warm weather really start to take hold. The afternoons are cooled by the sea breezes that abound from the southwest. This was the fire season, a time to burn the country in mosaic patterns. An almost clockwork style of easterly winds in the morning and sea breezes in the afternoon, meant that traditionally this was the burning time of year for Noongars. They would burn the country in mosaic patterns for several reasons including fuel reduction, increasing the grazing pastures for some animals, to aid in seed germination for some plants and for ease of mobility across the country.     Pride Fairday 15 November 2022 BreastScreen WA alongside National Bowel Cancer Screening Program and National Cervical Screening Program promoted their joint collaboration on the Screening Saves Lives campaignat Pride Fairday on Sunday 13th November. Part of this campaign was to provide information on cancer screening using inclusive and non-gendered language. The campaign also features a range of images using “Heroes” who volunteered from the LGBTQIA+ community to advocate for cancer screening. Overall, BreastScreen WA made 9 bookings, and spoke to hundreds of people around their eligibility for each screening Program.

    Pink Ribbon Breakfast 2022 a "wonderful event" 31 October 2022 This year's Pink Ribbon Breakfast was another successful event. Attendees were impressed with the guest speakers who shared their unique perspectives and life stories. Jane Armstrong gave an educational and eye-opening perspective into the reality of health outcomes amongst the LGBTQIA+ community and how it differs greatly from the mainstream. They also talked about theScreening Saves Livescampaign, and the importance of collaboration between the three National Screening Programs and community groups to ensure content is appropriate and relevant for the LGBTQIA+ community.The Hon Ayor Makur Chuot shared her incredible and inspiring life story of hope, sisterhood, and community on her journey from a refugee in South Sudan, to a politician in Australia. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer). Survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis. Take the time in October to find out what you need to know aboutbreast awarenessand share this important information with your family, friends and colleagues.
