Three million screens milestone

BreastScreen WA has reached an incredible milestone of delivering three million free screening mammograms since opening in 1989!
This monumental achievement would not be possible without the efforts of every staff member at BreastScreen WA, who are dedicated to saving lives through early detection.
In the past few years, BreastScreen WA has averaged around 135,000 screenings per year across 12 fixed clinics and over 100 WA towns, with July 2024 being the highest screening month ever recorded with 13,487 screens. In the last financial year, first-time screeners increased by 10%.
The team reached one million screens after 19 years in 2008, then nine years later in 2017 reached two million screens. It has taken only eight years to reach the third million in 2025.
