Show Up Campaign launch breaking down barriers to screening
Show Up campaign launch breaks down screening barriers
This month, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we launched a powerful campaign that speaks directly to the barriers many women face when it comes to screening— fear of pain, lack of time, and misconceptions around family history. This campaign is told through the experience of three brave women. The message to WA women is simple: Show Up! Show up for yourselves, Show up for those who love you. Show up and put your health first. We have a dedicated campaign landing page where women are encouraged to get the facts of breast health. It includes an FAQ and a ‘what to expect’ overview during a mammogram.
These messages are brought to life through the stories of three women:
- Jodie Joyce, a member of our Consumer Reference Group, who addresses the fear of discomfort and encourages others to push past it.
- Leanne Pilkington, who previously served as Senior Aboriginal Health Program Officer at BreastScreen WA, reminding us that making time for screening is an act of self-care.
- Melanie Singh, our BreastScreen ambassador, whose story challenges the myth that family history is the only risk factor for breast cancer.
The campaign materials were shared across Facebook and Instagram.
